Arabic, FlaĀmenco and TurkĀish Fusion. Lead by Glenn Sharp Formed by guiĀtarĀist and comĀposer Glenn Sharp, the Jadid Ensemble are a unique group of musiĀcians based in NorthĀwĀest EngĀland, who have a pasĀsion for the music of other nations and culĀtures. Their trainĀing in flaĀmenco, Indian and Arabic musics has given them a wide range of influĀences on which to draw.
āJadid ensembleā simply transĀlates as āthe new ensembleā, yet the word ājadidā has been extensĀively applied to Arabic musics which break away from the hisĀtorĀicĀal traĀdiĀtions (or music of the āqadimā). The clasĀsicĀal and jazz backĀgrounds within the group allow for traĀdiĀtionĀal melodĀic styles to be reworked into someĀthing fresh and new.
